About

Hi, I'm Ben. Beangineer is my corner of the web for engineering projects and the things I make for people. The name is a small pun: a bean, plus an engineer.

I am happiest when a project has a clear, human point to it. Plenty of engineering is abstract, and I enjoy that too, but the work I keep coming back to is the kind where someone can hold the result in their hands and say it made their day a little easier. That is why the main focus of this site is designing and 3D-printing custom assistive parts for people with disabilities, free of charge.

I am not a clinician. I am an engineer who likes to listen carefully, sketch, model, print, and iterate. The best parts I have made started as a conversation about one specific, ordinary task that was harder than it needed to be. Where I can, I share the designs so other people can print and adapt them too.

Over time I expect this site to grow beyond printing, with build logs, notes on what I am learning, and the occasional small tool or web app. For now, the assistive parts work is the heart of it.

Want to collaborate, request a part, or just say hello? Head to the contact page and tell me what you are trying to make easier.
